Tips - How to enable telnet or SSH to the Cisco Catalyst IOS version 12.2 (44) SE6, lower or higher version.
How do I enable telnet or ssh on a cisco catalyst 2900 series or 2960? For those not familiar with the Cisco Catalyst 2900 series this guide may be very useful to be applied on real Cisco hardware equipment or the Packet Tracer simulation software owned by Cisco Systems and Cisco IOS versions to the inside.

The following step is to insert the command line:
1. Login via Console Cable provided in the Box manufacturer.
2. Use Hyperterminal (win XP) or TeraTerm for win 7
3. Perform setting Hyperterminal / TeraTerm as follows:

Ports: COM1 (Adjusted position of the existing serial port on your computer. Example COM3 or COM6)
Baud rate: 900
Data: 8 bits
Parity: none
Stop: 1 bit
Flow control: none
----------------------------------
Select OK and presson the screen HyperTerminal or TeraTerm
4. Type the following command:
My-Switch>Ena
My-Switch # config terminal
My-Switch (config) # line vty 0 4
My-Switch (config-line) # login
My-Switch (config-line) # transport input telnet
My-Switch (config-line) # password somepassword
My-Switch (config-line) # exit
My-Switch (config) # line vty 5 15
My-Switch (config-line) # login
My-Switch (config-line) # transport input telnet
My-Switch (config-line) # password somepassword
My-Switch (config) # exit
My-Switch # copy run start
5. Done.
Note:
[+] Make sure you Vlan 1 (Vlan Management), is configured with IP address already (Sample vlan 1 is 10.1.1.1 255.255.0.0)
[+] When typing the command "login" there will be a message "having to set a new password will be active service"
[+] "Transport input telnet" can be changed to "transport input ssh" depending on the version of IOS that are in the Cisco Catalyst ours.
